officer effective July 13 He succeeds Terry Begley who has retired from his role as CEO after nearly 21 years with the company He will stay on in the new role of senior advisor Toll is a veteran consumer goods executive with strong global experience His career spans senior executive roles with such consumer brands companies as Proctor Gamble Co Campbell Soup Co and Pharmavite LLC and most recently Toll served as CEO of Irwin Naturals ACOSTA EXECUTIVE Acosta a full service sales and marketing agency in the consumer packaged goods industry has appointed John Carroll as chief growth officer In this newly created role Carroll will be responsible for identifying and harnessing opportunities to drive growth for Acostas current and prospective clients and customers He will report to Acostas CEO Darian Pickett and oversee the agencys business development and e commerce teams ANDERSON CHAIR ELECT NACDS president and CEO Steve Anderson has been selected to serve as chair elect of the American Society of Association Executives and as chair of the ASAE Research Foundation board These volunteer roles begin on September 1 2020 and are anticipated to result in Andersons service as chair of the ASAE board beginning on September 1 2021 TRACTOR SUPPLY EXEC Tractor Supply Co has named Melissa Kersey as executive vice president and chief human resources officer effective July 20 Kersey who brings seniorlevel experience from Walmart and most recently McDonalds USA will report to Hal Lawton Tractor Supplys president and CEO and she will serve on the companys executive committee She will have oversight for all human resources strategy Garfield Will Retire From FMI Vita Promoted ARLINGTON Va The Food Industry Association FMI has announced leadership changes including the planned retirement Robert Garfield and I had worked together for years in varying capacities and I knew him to be a man of great integrity possessing a solid work ethic with a thorough understanding of the regulatory system and food safety science Garfields retirement signals a new opportunity for leadership at SQFI with Gigi Vita as senior vice president and incoming chief food safety assessment officer Originally hired to lead sales for SQFI Vitas appointment cements her operational effectiveness through best inclass business to business and business to consumer insights and sales teams as well as supply chain manufacturing and globally sourced customer offerings Prior to her work at FMI Vita held leadership roles at major consumer packaged goods companies including PepsiCo Coca Cola for the Family Meals Movement Heather Garlich is senior vice president of communications marketing and consumer community affairs at FMI Garlich celebrates nine years at FMI and is a longtime food industry communicator having begun her career in Washington D C as a media and trends analyst She previously worked as public relations lead for major food and commodity accounts at a global agency Garlich has focused on media relations and building the associations digital strategy and on managing and directing communications and advocacy relations Krystal Register a dietician nutritionist was hired to lead health and well being initiatives at FMI Rx Staffers Win Honor From Publix LAKELAND Fla Publix Pharmacy has presented 15 associates with the Rxcellence Award which recognizes pharmacy sound scientific principles Oversight of SQFI required a leader with business acumen because the program needed to grow said Leslie Sarasin FMIs president and chief executive officer The very nature of SQFIs work necessitated someone steeped in the science of food safety The job required a visionary with customer service sensitivities and trusted connections throughout the food industry And to cap it all the position called for someone who cared deeply about both people and detailed protocols Bob Garfield Ahold Delhaizes Hommen Retires ZAANDAM Netherlands Jan Hommen will retire as chairman and member of the supervisory board at Ahold Delhaize on December 31 Peter Agnefjäll has been named the new chairman effective January 1 Agnefjäll will serve as vice chairman to work with Hommen to ensure a smooth transition effective immediately Hommen has a long tenure on the supervisory board of both Ahold Delhaize and before that Ahold At Ahold Delhaize he served as chairman between 2018 and 2020 and as vice chairman between 2016 and 2018 At Ahold he served as chairman between 2013 and 2016 and as vice chairman between 2003 and 2007 Agnefjäll has been a member of the supervisory board since April 2019 He served as president and chief executive officer of the IKEA group from 2013 to 2017 Lawton and Melwani Are Appointed to NRF Board ARLINGTON Va The National Retail Federation NRF elected two new members to its board during the organizations virtual summer board meeting Hal Lawton president and chief executive officer of Tractor Supply Co and Anish Melwani chairman and CEO of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton Inc will both serve a two year term until June 2022 Hal Lawton and Anish Melwani have shown exceptional leadership during the past few months as our country and the retail industry have faced the coronavirus pandemic and heightened racial injustice said NRF president and CEO Matthew Shay Their involvement with the NRF board will be instrumental as we work to reopen businesses bringing the economy with them and get America back to work Lawton joined Tractor Supply in January 2020 just prior to the coronavirus spreading to the United States As an essential retailer Tractor Supply has remained open throughout the COVID 19 pandemic Under Lawtons leadership the company has taken more than 100 actions in response to the pandemic with an emphasis on the health and safety of its team members and customers Their two year terms will end in June 2022 Melwani was appointed chairman and CEO of LVMH Inc in January 2016 and leads all LVMH activities in North America He has been recognized for his commitment to treating all employees fairly and with dignity and for taking a corporate stand to fight unconscious bias and help its brands promote equality 80
