shopping behavior is changing rapidly even more so in the midst of COVID 19 General gaps in this area are closing for example As we look to create consistency of messaging in channels and break down silos so the customer has a seamless experience regardless of where they transact its simply easier faster to react in digital channels During the past two months weve made a lot of advancements in our large brick and mortar footprint as we are continuously trying to pivot our store messaging as quickly as were able to pivot in digital channels She says that one of the lessons she and her team will take away from this period of time is the reminder that when you focus on progress over perfection you can do a lot of good by your customers very quickly During the height of the pandemic Condon is seeing a major spike in digital business Its no surprise that every business is seeing a shift in consumer behavior to adopt frictionless commerce I am impressed by the agility of businesses both small and large to respond to these consumer behavior changes so quickly We have a seen a large increase in the number of customers having their medications and everyday essential front store items delivered she said Condon adds that the company is uniquely positioned as a neighborhood health store staple in most of the country Right now more than ever we are there for consumers health care needs with a particular rise in immunity needs And were there for their DIY beauty needs grocery fillins and everything in between It has been interesting to see that depending on the week and the curve of the stay at home orders our stores are being used for different needs by our consumers It makes us all proud that we can serve those needs as they adjust week to week right now Personally and professionally mentoring is very important and rewarding aspect of her position I have several formal and informal mentees inside and outside of CVS What I truly enjoy most is mentoring young women appointed Kelly Caruso as chief executive officer of Shipt the growth trajectory of its same day delivery service and marketplace subsidiary has come to resemble a rocket launch While its most recent expansion has naturally been accelerated by the COVID 19 pandemic Shipt has in fact grown impressively since its acquisition by Target in 2017 According to Caruso a 20 plusyear Target veteran who was senior vice president of hard lines when she took on her new role at Shipt the Birmingham and our headquarters team The specific measures implemented include Doubling the number of Shipt personal shoppers to 200000 Expanding the companys customer support team and establishing a dedicated shopper support line Expanding the availability window for consumers to place orders to four days from two in many markets Implementing no contact deliveries via door drop offs Providing Shipt with personal protective equipment offering them a financial assistance program and paying bonuses to the most active shoppers While Caruso acknowledges that the safety concerns created by the pandemic have been a factor in the unprecedented demand for Shipt in recent months she believes that the ease convenience and service level that the company provides will drive sustained growth Our business has grown in recent months to levels we expected to reach several years from now and this growth is a testament to the entire Shipt family from our headquarters team to our shoppers and their resilience collaboration and dedication Caruso says It has been humbling to say the least to see the Shipt team come together and push through to get the job done Even prior to its most recent expansion Shipt achieved impressive growth since its acquisition by Target The company has expanded its service area from 82 metro markets to nearly 300 now offering delivery to more than 5000 cities and 80 of households in the United States In the last year alone Caruso points out Shipt has added 30 retailers to its marketplace and expanded its category coverage to include pet products cookware and office supplies from specialty retailers in addition to its core offering of groceries and household essentials At midyear Shipt offers same day delivery from nearly 100 national and regional retailers across the country Looking ahead Caruso says the recent increase in consumer awareness of companies through the ranks from pharmacy manager to pharmacy district manager and then regional vice president Cardello was promoted to her current job in 2011 with responsibility for developing implementing especially important as the company adapts and expands to help Rite Aid communities stay healthy during the COVID 19 pandemic Moving forward I expect that one of my key responsibilities will continue to be finding creative ways to keep our doors open and help our associates and customers stay safe Cardello says A graduate of Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy dosages and possible interactions and side effects with patients to pharmacists now being able to practice at the top of their license Broadening their scope of practice to include such services as immunizations and screenings for a plethora of health conditions is what pharmacists should be doing and it is more in line with the oath they took coming out of school Along with its broad pharmacy operation Rite Aids front end is an essential piece to not only complementing its pharmacy but serving its many pharmacy patients To help further make the pharmacy and front end at Rite Aid a seamless entity Cardello says both elements are going to be far better integrated moving forward with pharmacists as the focal point to bring to life the companys vision for the pharmacy as the hub for whole being health Our product inventory will shift to reflect this newly refined mission with more of the kinds of products that consumers can feel good about such as organics and products that are free from harmful chemicals Cardello says Our front end offerings will complement the expertise of our pharmacists Adding to its comprehensive front end is Rite Aids AIM Adherence Immunizations and Medication Therapy Management initiative which along with better serving its patients is making the companys pharmacy operations even more efficient and a more efficient pharmacy in turn frees up pharmacists so that they can have more one onone interactions with patients On top of that Rite Aid offers automated courtesy refills and the convenience of text message refill notices There is a centralfill facility that processes maintenance medications And there is a state of the art tool called Rite Care which prompts clinical opportunities in real time when pharmacists are filling a patients prescription As a woman at her level at a major company such as Rite Aid Cardello believes in paying it forward but says doing so is something she enjoys and doesnt view as an obligation Im always happy to see more
